There

“There” is a picture book written and illustrated by Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick.

The first connection I found in the story was a text to text connection. I have read a book a while ago when I was younger that had a similar metaphor. The second connection I found in the story was a text to self-connection. The part where she says: “when will I get there” reminds me of when I was in the car as a small child always asking are we there yet. The third connection I found in the story was a text to world connection. Reminds me of people and/or the world wondering about its future. The part where the child is wondering when she will get there and what will happen. The fourth connection I found in the story was a text to media connection. The part where she is wondering what will happen when I get there reminds me of when Donald Trump started building the wall and many people are wondering what is going to happen without imports of avocados and other things from Mexico.

Wangari’s Trees Of Peace: A True Story From Africa

A text to self-connection I’ve found in the story is when everyone starts growing back the trees. This reminds me of when my neighbours wanted to cut down a tree in our yard because it was blocking the view. Before it looked like the tree wouldn’t grow back but after a while, the tree started to grow back its branches.Another text to self-connection I’ve found in the story is when the women started growing trees again and food started growing out of the soil. This reminds me of when I was young and wanted to grow our own food in the backyard, we bought seeds but we forgot to plant them.

The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau Connections

A text to self connection I found in the story was when they were talking about litter in the ocean and reminded me of when we were learning about litter in the ocean in grade 6 and when we were designing machines to remove litter from the ocean. Another text to self connection I found in the story is when Jacques gets into a car accident and the doctor says he has to wear arm bracelets. This reminds me if when my dad got into a motorcycle accident and had to wear a knee brace. A text to world connection I found in the story is also about the litter they were talking about in the ocean and reminded me of all the pollution that is happening in the world. A text to media connection I found in the story is when Jacques wanted to share the beauty of the sea and reminded me of how popping the visuals were when I first watched “Finding Nemo”.

Enemy Pie Connections

“Enemy Pie” is a picture book written by Derek Munson and illustrated by Tara Callahan King. The story is about a boy who has an enemy and gets his dad to make “enemy pie”. He is told by his dad that the only way enemy pie will work is if the boy spends a day with his enemy, the boy spends a day with his enemy and ends up becoming friends with his enemy. When his enemy (now his friend) tries to eat the enemy pie the boy tries to make his friend not eat the pie and stops him because he thinks the pie will do something bad to his new friend and he doesn’t want that to happen. The first connection I noticed is a text to text connection and reminds me of the Ugly Duckling. It reminds me of the Ugly Duckling because the moral of the story is mostly the same, don’t judge people by their first impressions because once you get to know them you will realize they are actually a good person. The second connection I noticed is a text to self-connection and reminds me of when I went over to Francesco’s house when we were in kindergarten or grade 1. It reminds me of me and Francesco because at the end of the story the boy and his friend sit around a table and eat a nice meal that his dad has made and reminds me of when I and Francesco ate some pizza that his dad cooked. Those were some connections I found in the book “Enemy Pie” and a summary of the story.
